Tyler Tharp is the Lead Instructor and Performance Coach behind Synergy Training Group — specializing in building shooters who can perform on demand, not just in training. His coaching philosophy is built on one core principle: conjecture is dangerous — performance must be measurable, repeatable, and accountable.
As a USPSA Master Class competitor with over a decade of competitive pistol and carbine experience, Tyler understands the difference between theory and execution. His instruction focuses on refining mechanics under pressure, eliminating wasted motion, and building durable skill that holds up when speed, stress, and consequences matter.
Tyler’s background spans competitive shooting, private-sector security, active-shooter response training, and safety leadership, including prior service as Director of Safety and Security for Home Church. He has also spent years mentoring and coaching through academic tutoring and Christian leadership — shaping an approach that emphasizes discipline, ownership, and continual performance improvement.
With 8+ years of firearms instruction, Tyler has coached responsibly armed citizens, competitive shooters, instructors, and professional end-users. Every program he runs is designed around sound principles, diagnostics, structured practice, and performance validation — ensuring students don’t just “feel confident,” but can prove competence on demand.
Tyler currently serves as Team Captain and Lead Instructor for Synergy Training Group, where the mission is clear: build accountable, capable protectors through performance-driven training and uncompromising standards.
